Boni judicis est ampliare jurisdictionem. It is the part of a good judge to enlarge his jurisdiction2; that, his remedial authority. Chan. Prec. 329; 1 Wils 284; 9 M. Wels. 818.

Boni judicis est causas litium derimere. It is the duty of a good judge to remove the cause of litigation. 2 Co. Inst. 304.

Bonum defendentis ex integr caus, malum ex quolibet defectu. The good of a defendant3 arises from a perfect case, his harm from some defect. 11 Co. 68.

Cessante causa, cessat effectus. The cause ceasing, the effect must cease.
